Identify the Necessities You Need during the Global Depression
Many people want to know what they can do or where they can go to escape the global depression. They look for ‘recession proof’ jobs and industries and countries that might shelter them. Those are nice things to do, but they will not help you or your family.
Now is the time to focus on preparing the necessities.
Food
Water
Shelter
Safety
The first things you need to plan for are these areas. If water to your house was shut off (the pumps failed tomorrow), where would you get drinking water? Where would you get water for your sewer? Do you have a well? What powers your well? Do you have a gasoline powered generator? How much gasoline do you have to power the generator? Do you have a wind or solar generator?
If stores ran out of food, because they rely on just in time business plans, how long could you live off of the food in your pantry? How long might the food in your freezer or deep freeze last if your power goes out?
How safe is your house? Is your mortgage safe? If you are laid off today (as I write this Yahoo! Employees are heading to work where either they or 1499 of their coworkers will be laid off) how long could you continue to pay your mortgage? What if your credit cards were canceled tomorrow? Is it even smart to try and keep your house? What do you do with your ‘stuff’ if you lose your house?
Is your house, home, apartment or residence safe? If 50% of the local police force is laid off due to failing local and state budgets, how safe would your family and belongings be? Do you have a guard dog(s)? How about an alarm system? Who actually comes if your alarm system is triggered? Do you have a gun? Do you know how to use a gun effectively? Does a gun make things worse?
These are just some of the things that we will be covering here in the Global Depression Survival Guide. We all need to cover the necessities first. We need to do this so that we can then afford the luxury of contemplating all of the luxuries that follow.
